Rawr!

Hello there ladies, gentlemen, and animate constructs.

I worked today, had some crazy-ass drunks that were threatening me in strange manners and couldn't stand up straight. I have also been drawing more boats. Not much at all to report.

Do you realize that there are only 33 major naval vessels in the current Canadian Navy (with an additional 9 training and auxiliary vessels, but they don't count). Are you also aware that there are roughly 34 million Canadians (based on a 2010 estimate using 2006 census data). That means that the odds of a Canadian being a naval captain is about 1 in 1,000,000. Now You Know!

Also, I was mentioned in an article in the Uglyships Blog. http://uglyships.wordpress.com/2010/04/09/burrard-otter/

Yay!

Damn the Torpedoes!

All Ahead Full!

Update Time! and boy howdy, it has been some days. Not really notable days, but, well, days. I am all better and such from my cold, and that's awesome. The Sea Dog Amber Ale is so very nommable, and I have been watching many good movies recently. Most recently were "Flags of our Fathers", "Letters from Iwo Jima", "A Bridge Too Far", and other WW2 themed ones.

Today at work there was an incident where I tried to not get all stressed and let the anxiety get the better of me. And It WORKED. A guy came in for smokes and stuff, and I ID'd him, since he looked young, to which he responded "What the fuck, I'm 29, I don't have ID!", followed by various swears and "your idiots" and not nice stuff. And I could have let it get to me and be anxiety, but then in a moment of serenity and goodness, I responded appropriately. In a voice loud enough for him to hear, but not shouting, I said "You're a Meanie" in my semi-cute voice.

I think he was confused as he continued his storming-out tantrum.

so what else... I have been drawing boats. Um... wait, that's never new. Oh Well, I have been drawing boats, specifically ww2 chibi boats, and it is fun.

Yep, that's all for now. Happy thoughts to everyone finishing their year of school. Happy thoughts to everyone else too (like the workers, the homemakers, but not the bourgeoisie :P).

Sea Dog

Hello there

Well, I'm in the middle of having a cold, and its no fun. I got a cold around Thursday, and it was steadily getting worse through till Sunday. I had work on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, and lemme tell you, Saturday was a tough day, I was sneezing and coughing.

So I grudgingly asked Ethel for Monday off to recuperate (and honestly, pretty important in my mind - not giving my cold to the very elderly regulars at work, whom it would probably kill). I got Monday and Tuesday off, so this is good. I have been sleeping a lot, and watching a lot of movies and Internet shows (notably ww2 movies and Dragonball Z - I'm going to finish it one day).

Also, I have been reading the series Lone Wolf and Cub, and today I went to the library and got out the last two books in the series. I also got an email saying that my special request from the BCL came in, Sea Dog Amber Ale. An ale commemorating 100 years of the Royal Canadian Navy :)

That's all for now, I will go back to watching shows, drinking coffee, and sweating out my illness.

Iraqi Road Ice Cream

- 1 in 10 servings comes with its own IED.

...I don't know, just popped into my head.

well, nothing great to report I suppose, after the last dentist appointment, when the freezing wore off i came to a grim realisation that I couldn't taste anything on the left side of my tongue. When the dentist was giving me anesthetic, I think he pinched a nerve or something. It may take weeks, months or longer to heal, so that kinda sucks... a lot...

In good news, I got an "I am poor" cheque from the government entitling me to 353 buckaroos, so that is good.

In bad news, I am getting sick with the sniffles, runny nose and lots of sneezing.

In good news, a regular at the store won 1500 dollars on the lottery today.

That's it for now, talk to you all again another time.

National Masturbation

Hello

The title you ask?, well, I just watched a good movie, and it made me ponder a bad movie. I just watched the WW2 classic "Tora! Tora! Tora!, which was an epic 1970's film, with beautiful directing and cinematography, as well as a balanced portrayal of the American and Japanese motives. Neither side being wholly good or wholly evil. They also go the extra step and re-enact stunning dogfights with real restored airplanes used in ww2 (and a painted up American plane called a "Texan", but made to look like a "zero". I suppose not many Zero's survived the war).

Compare then, to the wank-stain equivalent which is "Pearl Harbour", made in I-don't-give-a-fuck, pearl harbour was a flashy piece of something, that quite frankly hearkened back to the cowboy and Indians era. It was the Good-noble Americans attacked without warning or reason by the evil demonic Japanese non-Christians. the scenes are made to look flashy, filled with attempts at emotional empathy. It reminds me less of a movie based on historical fact, and more of a big-fish story acting as porn for the collective American national masturbation (America, Fuck Yeah!).

the funniest thing of all is that Tora! Tora! Tora! actually looks more realistic. The characters or more real, the facts or more real, and it seems like it might have actually been an event perpetrated by, and involving, human beings. just a funny observation.

Anyways, I went to the dentist, for what I thought was an hour-long appointment. turns out it was 3.5 hours, so that sucked. Now I have to go to work. If it was going to be so long and "surgerific", i would have tried to get the day off.

I also got a new cooking pan, its one of those paderno eco-friendly thingamajigs. I like it because it has a super-duper-no-sticking-ever surface, made of ceramic stuff. apparently 10x stronger than Teflon, and not nearly as cancer-ish. i made cajun eggs. Nom.

Till next time

New Post

Oh Hello

How are you fine readers?

Well, the last few days have been good, its the Easter weekend, and I have been working a lot. Yay for working on stat holidays! I gets moneys! Hooray for the pagan goddess Eoster, and her dominion over fertility. Woot.

I got a couple of packs of the Axis & Allies War at sea game in the last few weeks. I really wanna play some games with peoples.

I went to Rupert again, this time with Brandon, Ktana, and Marty. I acted as a guide, showing them the long tunnel, and then the turrets at prince Rupert. it was pretty fun overall.

That's about it for now. More short blogs will follow.
